Slate roofing shingles have been around a long time yet are only used in about five percent of houses and offices today due to the expensive cost for these shingles. Slate roofing shingles are the longest lasting shingles on the market however, lasting upwards of one hundred years before needing replacement. In addition, they do not need much maintenance work, so they can save the consumer cost in the long run.
